About Me

Nicole is an artist, a mother, a knitter, a spinner, and a chronic pain sufferer. She was diagnosed with chronic intractable migraines in 2000, while pregnant with her first child. That diagnosis marked the beginning of a quest for pain-free living, something she is still searching for. Along the way, she has met many other women with "invisible illnesses"- from PPD to lupus. The one thing they all share is frustration with the medical community for the lack of recognition of how seriously these illnesses affect parenting.

When not warding off pain or searching for a new treatment on-line, Nicole is mama to Zane, almost 6, and Reidun, almost 4, a gaggle of cats, a dog, a bird, and her first fiber animal, a french angora rabbit. She has been married almost 10 years to Keir, who supports her in all her endeavors, including her new business, Pickleboot & co, making fine knitting accouterments.
