About Me
I am a speech language pathologist but I'm currently on sabatical (since Feb 2006). Hopefully won't last too long because I miss those little ones! My husband, cavalier king charles spaniel and I are living in a suburb of Chicago. Brrr! My dog, Mr. Knightley is attached to the hip. He is a mama's boy, but he does like dad's lap too.
In the last 2 years, I have learned that I have strength I never thought I had. Couldn't have done it without Jesus. I found there is always hope even when it is very dark.
I love dancing with my husband...like ballroom dancing. We're both trained and it is a blast. We both grew up dancing, so we often are dancing around the house (when I'm feeling good that is). Although, if my DH were just to try to stand and 'groove' to the music, he's kinda stilted. hehe Its actually cute how he can be so fluid with one but rigid with the other. hehe :) We have fun though.
And we watch tons of movies. I LOVE watching movies. I can't help it, my grandfather worked in the movies & commercials, so its in my blood. I love movies made in the 30's and the 40's in black & white. Screwball comedies are great for me in the middle of my migraine cycles. 'My Man Godfrey' is worn out in our dvd player. So many actors are my favorites from that era: William Powell, Bette Davis, Katharine Hepburn, Carole Lombard... But, the one who really gets me laughing now is Robin Williams.
My husband recently got me addicted to Nascar. I used to HATE it. Now, I need an Nascar Anonymous meeting or something. Hi. My name is Kelly and I'm a Nascar Fanatic. I've learned a lot about how race cars work this past year.
I also love to read! Big fan of Jane Austen which is ,of course, why I named my dog Mr. Knightley (from "Emma"). Anything by Elizabeth Berg, some Fyodor Dostoevsky and lots of Christian authors (non fiction). Love "Gift of Pain" by Phillip Yancey & Paul Brand and "Same Kind of Differnt As Me" by Ron Hall & Denver Moore. I'm currently reading 3 books (I can never just read one): "Prayer" by Richard Foster, "Strong at the Broken Places" by Richard Cohen, and "Irresistable Revolution" by Shane Claiborne.
And last but not least. I love to be outside. I am a nature girl. I love to garden and go for walks outside. I haven't hiked in sooo long, but I love to do that.... My DH's family lives on a farm in Iowa and I just loved walking out in the pasture. Good fresh air is the best. (Watch out for the cow pies though! They don't smell so sweet!!)
