The other analgesics available NSAIDS which does noet work, or classified as narcotics. Doctors RARELY prescribe a narcotic. My impression is that you have to suffer from cancer or something really serious to get strong analgesics to have at home. I would try Sumatriptan injection if my neuro gives it a green light. Cross my fingers for that, but I feel unsure. The days I have constant hadache with flare ups the only thing I think of if I'm not forcing myself to anything else is "pain relief!!!!" The er is waste, I'd probably just recieve Paralgin and be sent home - the most common practice. To get i.e. morphine I guess you have to screem and be completely crazy from your pains. Or if you have to undergo surgery you often get narcotics... I have a high pain tolerance, speaking in temrs of having to scream or loose controll. The only thing I have real hard times with is to stay still. I have to moove.
This "immunity" to paralgin doctors not knowing me wont listen to. Only my GP has accepted this. I had twoo whisdom tooth extractions where the dentist just gave me Paralgin, of course just shaking his head when I said there was no point in taking them. I did take the dose (two tabs) the first time. No effect. Didn't bother the second time, and the pain level was not higher.
I really hate to take drugs, but those bad days.... If this continues I'd get crazy! I feel completely out of options, comfused... What on earth wil be the answer from my neuro, if he has one? He wants the best for me, and does his best. I feel that he is a bit out of options now. Sometimes I just feel like giving up, telling the neuro "what about just calling it chronic headache and try to accept it?"

Hey there,
I just had a thought.
I bet there is a large University around associated with a teaching hospital and or clinic you could look into if you are not getting anywhere with this neurologist.
Good luck
