Debilitation

By alleykat Sunday, March 15, 2009

I see the flashing cracks, the auras in my mind,

I know it is the start of a migraine, one that makes me blind.

I am in for a day of darkness, no sound, nausea and pain,

I know my kids are saying, "Here we go again."

Mommy can't get out of bed and play with me and read,

She can't ride bikes and cook, instead lay in bed a prisoner, not free.

For days I have to put my life on hold, if I didn't hurt so much I'd cry,

Inside I feel like I am dying, my days are not dignified.

For days this pain envelops me, I want it all to end,

So I can be part of my cherished family again.

A prisoner in my mind , a deathly gripping, stabbing pain,

All I want is for the pain to leave so I can live again.

I too have delibating headaches like you, right now i'm taking topamax, I'm on the highest dose they give me, plus they are giving me injections in the back of my head to try to stop them. So I know what it is to feel like a prisoner in your own minde and body and no escape, but i'm no going to give up til I find something that works for me.

It is difficult. I hope we both find a way to be rid of these. I have had them since I was 9 and even had a strike at 29 from a complicated migraine. I am now blind in my peripheral vision. I have started elavil and amerge. I also take fioricite or percocet for pain. Oh what I would give to not have these. Now I am devastated because I have passed them down to my nine year old son.....I inherited them from my dad and his mother. We will win this battle!!! keep strong.....
