Aromatherapy, for temporary relief of migraines

By Abby Friday, May 04, 2007

Today, I went to our local health food store and got some basic items to begin for the aromatherapy. I got the an aromatherapy plug in defuser that included the 5 pads. So, I didn't need to buy any. So I got 3 Essential Oil's to start out with Orange, Eucalyptus, and Spearmint.

I did my first session today with 10 Drops - Spearmint and 5 drops Eucalyptus. Oh the it smelled wonderful. Tonight i'm going to try the Orange one. Not sure yet how many drops yet to do. But in the direction's on the box it say's 5-15 drop's. So its on personal preference.

Lavender is my most favoritest. Rosemary is awfully nice, too. Sort of pine tree-y. Some think that Sandalwood is wonderful.

Several years ago, I had some bath oil beads with a rosemary-black pepper formula. It was surprisingly nice. I've found that just about every aroma refreshes me, even if it's a bedtime blend like chamomile or lavender.

Instead of using an infuser (cheapskate), I put 2 or 3 drops on my pillowcase.

If you use a spray bottle when you iron (yeah, I know, but I'm a quilter, and fabric has to be pressed before and during piecing). Anyway, you can scent the water in the bottle by adding 3 ounces of vodka and 5 drops of your favorite herbal oil. The vodka keeps the oil from floating on the top. It's a little reward for being such a good girl.
