trying to get off fioricet

By Linda Saturday, January 19, 2008
I'm trying to get off Fioricet, or at the very least cut down on the stuff. It seems I was getting headaches/migraines daily and had a constant ache and wonder now if the Fioricet was in fact causing it. My doctor told me to only take it at most once a week and try not to take it unless I really need it. I have dark circles under my eyes and have had a sleep study done and been diagnosed with restless legs but refuse the meds for it as I hate the drugs, they are sooo strong they make me throw up. He gave me a muscle relaxer, said it may help my migraines, said he still thinks my headaches/migraines (thinks I have both) are caused by tension may benefit by a good nights sleep and a muscle relaxer. He gave me samples of zanflex. Boy it helps me sleep! He also upped my topamax to 200 mg...100 mg 2x a day. I've only had one migraine...made the mistake of getting a tubbys sub. It must have had msg or something in it and it sparked a 3 day migraine. I had to break down and take a fioricet. I've still got a mild migraine. I am trying to limit the fioricet though, have only had the one fioricet through it and don't want to take any more. It's like withdrawals, but I overall feel better without taking it, I feel like I'm on a rollercoaster if I keep taking it and it seems like the headaches/migraines get worse instead of better.
Gripe! MSG!
