Migraine Mother   I see you lying on the floor, head in hands, face contorted in pain. My stomach knots, my cognitive function ceases. I can't remember the last time you fell asleep during the day until that afternoon in the fourth grade when the monster headaches started.   I kno...

    Katherine:

I suppose it's always painful to see a child suffer. But, thank you for responding to my poem.

Aside from the fact I'm a guy I was very much like your daughter. Your concern and support of her is worth much. A very beautiful, sad poem but with hope because of her mom.

Well, thank you very much for your kind words.  Any child is worth fighting for, don't you think?

I hope your fight with headaches has gotten better with the years.

    God Bless,

    Carrie

This made me cry.  I am a mother of a child who has migraines.  We are now going on the 2nd month.  This has been a horrible time, unable to help, I have had to take FMLA due to my daughters migraines. I feel so helpless. Two trips to the Er, nerve blocks, several types of medications, spinal taps, botox and infustions.

The prior note sounded like someone reading my mail.  THank you for sharing your thoughts.

Nothing is harder than to see your child suffer and to be unable to fix it.  Since I wrote this poem, there has been improvement for my daughter.  She seems to have multiple triggers for multiple types of headaches. We have attacked each one separately:  allergies, food triggers, etc.  I truly hope you will be able to find ways to deal with this. Good luck.
