Hoping someone may be able to help

By Helen New Zealand Saturday, April 05, 2008
Hi there, my name is Helen. Until around 5 years ago I was the healthiest person around. I didn't have the need even for painkillers in my cupboard & very rarely got sick. Then I started getting migraines. At first they were few & far between, now they are almost daily & very debilitating.  They worsen as the day progresses & I just want to vomit & tear my hair out at any noise. I am irritable (instead of the easygoing person I once was) & prone to tears (as opposed to being the capable, non emotional type of person previously). I have tried numerous medications, none of which has helped, & have restricted my diet to eliminate all foods that could possibly be a trigger yet I am still so ill. I am hoping someone may have some advice, I don't know what else to try. I have seen specialists & tried so many horrible drugs. I have a 5 year old daughter who I want to enjoy life with instead of being constantly ill. In advance, thank you so much to anyone with any ideas, Helen.

I have had success with chiropractic treatment for over a year . My migraines have lessened and are not as severe.I would highly reccommend it along with yoga practice.

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!

Migraine is a genetic neurologic disease with flare ups, the Migraine attacks themselves.

You are so right when you say pain is debilitating.

An elimination food diet for some can help reduce Migraine frequency. A Migraine diary is an excellent way to track triggers, medications and any patterns to your Migraines. HERE is the diary to download.

It may feel like you have tried every medication for Migraine prevention, put it really isn't possible, so don't lose! There are over 100 medications that can be used to treat Migraines. Migraine Preventive Medications - Too Many Options To Give Up!

Helen,

How are you doing? I read your Sharepost and hope you are doing better. I never suffered a migraine or any type of health problem until after my second child was 2yrs. old and I was abour 36, so I can relate.  Do you have any abortive or rescue medication to help you?

Sometimes it can feel like a person has tried so many different types of drugs but after 12 years, I am still hoping for the right combination to control my migraines a little better. Some can really help though.  I think this forum helps me to get through some of the bad days, when the pain can get you downCry I send you a hugBig Grin

Trish

Hi, if you can get Dilaudid, and ultram, one of each together helps with the pain, and it works for several hours, the problem is getting a doctor who will prescribe the dilaudid it is hrdromorphone only, no tylenol, tylenol does nothing for a migraine, so why add it to the mix, good luck everyone. jeanette
