After suffering from migraine for 12 years, I have finally found a combination of medications that have really helped me!
Has anyone else tried muscle relaxers (taken at night to relieve stress and help with sleep)? And or a birth control pill taken everyday to prevent hormone fluctuation and menstruation?
I take Tizanidine (muscle relaxer) every night and Lybrel (birth control pill which prevents menstruation) every day to help with my migraines.
I used to experience headache almost every day and migraine at least twice a month. As a result of the combination of tizanidine and lybrel, I now hardly ever have to take abortive medication and or, over the counter pain medication. This has also helped me understand how frequent my rebound headaches really were.
I want others to ask their doctors about this and also get feedback to see if anyone else has experienced pain relief from either of these meds.

Hi Bonnie!
I'm glad to hear you've found a medication combination that works so well for you!
I don't have much experience with muscle relaxers or bcp's, but many people here and at our forum do! (I've read many posts at the forum discussing this very thing!) If you haven't already done so, please consider checking out our forum! To get there, look at the top of this page and find the orange drop-down menu called "Manage." Then, click on "Migraine Forums." It'll take you right to the forum!
Those of us who hang out here a lot use these shareposts as kind of a diary or "blog."
