Catfanlover,
I have had some strange side effects to Verapamil and Midrin. I continue to take the Midrin when I need it even though I have sometimes experienced a tingling sensation through my hair. Also, with Verapamil, I became very dizzy on this medication. I have since stopped taking it. That was a while that I had that experience. I don't know how strange those are, but thought I would share with you!
Hi there,
I too experienced some horrible side effects to Topamax. Let's just say if it could happen, it happened to me. A short list includes:
--NO appetite, and by this I mean I was actually repulsed by food (this coming from someone who can usually eat, even when not hungry). Though I appreciated the weight loss, it scared me and everyone around me how fast it was happening
--Extreme paranoia--for example, I constantly thought co-workers were talking about me. Which led to:
--Anxiety attacks, crying, shortness of breath, the works
--Horrible crazy dreams
--Horrible temper, lashing out for no reason (if somebody's cell phone rang, I wanted to shove it down their throat; if someone was clicking a pen in my office, I wanted to beat my head against the wall
--Very depressed all the time
I really could go on, but you get the picture. After about a month of this, I finally had the good sense to take myself off of the stuff. My doctor said I'd had the worst reaction to Topamax he'd ever seen, but since then I have heard numerous people give similar accounts. The bad thing is, in my psychotic state of mind I really didn't think the medicine was to blame. When people suggested the possibility to me, I would get really angry and think they were just trying to find an excuse for THEIR behavior!! Meanwhile, I kept ramping up my dosage every week, trying to reach the suggested goal. I'm sure I was a lot of fun to deal with during this time!!! If you ask me, STAY AWAY FROM IT. Maybe it works great for some people, but from my own experience, I say it's not worth the risk. Plus, if you decide to take yourself off of it, it is a BEAST to get out of your system. I felt like I was on my deathbead for at least 72 hours after my last dose.
I lost a month to Topamax, and it seemed like a whole lot longer than that. My family, co-workers, and boyfriend can all testify... they are glad to have "me" back. Hope this helped!!!
