I wake up between 3.30 4-30am with migraine. I never go to bed with even a headache - It is always over my left eye and the throbbing is sometimes unbearable.
I take a medication which I get from Cyprus called ANAVAN as anything my Doctor has prescribed doesn't help at all. He says it's something I must put up with. Vomiting and unable to move your head every couple of months is not on and I have asked to see a neurologist.
Hope you can help. Lesley.
Any doctor who says you "must put up with" headaches or Migraines needs to be fired. There's simply no excuse for that attitude. If he doesn't know what more to do for you, he should simply say so.
Are you certain it's a Migraine that wakes you and not a headache? The regularity of the time could be indicative of hypnic headache. You can read more about it in Hypnic Headache - The Basics. Of course, nobody can diagnose via the Internet, but it's worth reading the article and discussing it with a doctor.
We've been unable to find anything on your medication from Cyprus. Are you in Cyprus? If not, why are you getting medication there?
It's definitely time for a new doctor. It’s important to note that neurologists aren’t necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.
