Migraines / violent headaches, off balance, see little black dots?

Ask the Clinician Health Pro
  • Full Question:

    I've been suffering migraines/violent headaches for at least 2years now, I can't bear light or loud noises and when I move or bend down it feels like my heads in a vice which is being tightened. I had them a couple of months ago in work and I nearly fainted, I went light headed and lost my balance also I see little black dots! Don't know if that's anything to do with them, any help or advice will be hugely appreciated. Thanks, Neil.

    Full Answer:

    Dear Neil;

    Have you seen your doctor for a diagnosis? The symptoms you describe could all be symptoms of Migraine, but the only person who can safely tell you if that's what they are is a doctor who can review your medical history and family medical history, discuss your symptoms with you, and examine you in person.

    Check out Anatomy of a Migraine for information on the phases and symptoms of a Migraine attack, and please see your doctor for diagnosis and treatment. It's important to be properly diagnosed for your safety and so you can receive appropriate treatment. Migraines and headaches aren't the same and shouldn't be treated the same.

    Good luck,
