Full Question:
I take 150 of Effexor a day for mild OCD can I take Fioricet with the Effexor. I was taking Imitrex, but my new DR. said there was a interaction between the 2 med. Barbara.

Answer:

Dear Barbara;

You and your doctor need to have a conversation about this RARE potential interaction between Effexor and Imitrex. We have addressed this before. Please read THIS ANSWER for more information.

Check with your doctor about taking Fioricet. Something you need to understand though is that Fioricet is not a substitute for Imitrex. Imitrex is an abortive medication that can actually stop the Migraine process. Fioricet cannot do that. All it can do is mask pain for a few hours.

Good luck,
John Claude Krusz and Teri Robert
