My Aunt Marilyn has been having tremendous pains in her head. She describes as a pulling sensation and pain at the top of the head. Also, she has mentioned she gets a metallic taste in her mouth sometimes. This has been going on for years and we haven't found any answers as to what this could be. We have visited countless doctors and we have still not had a diagnosis for her. It is making her depressed and her marriage is suffering from this pain. Nobody believes her about the pain except for us. We just need answers soon. My Aunt Marilyn has a very low quality of life and I hate to see her like that. If you can please point us in the right direction or help us in any way, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, she keeps wearing a neck brace cause she says it helps the pain. I don't know, but we are running out of options at this point. Please help her. Thank you. Brad.
Your Aunt Marilyn is fortunate to have a nephew who cares so much. Thank you for writing to us.
We really feel for you and your family. It's terrible to have gone to many doctors and still not have a diagnosis. Unfortunately, we really don't have any answers for you because there are so very many things that could be causing your aunt's symptoms. The best advice we can offer is for your aunt to consult a Migraine and headache specialist. It’s important to note that neurologists aren’t necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check the Find a Health Care Specialist on the ACHE web site.
A good Migraine and headache specialist will do his or her best to help your aunt and won't give up until they can diagnose her or at the very least, help her find someone who can. Please keep in touch, and let us know how things are going?
