12/3/07 #6 - Ringing in the ears during trials of Topamax?

Ask the Clinician Health Pro
  • Full Question:
At what dosage AND at what percentage of the test studies did there appear ringing of the ear when taking Topamax?

According to information about the clinical trials of Topamax for Migraine prevention published in the prescribing information for Topamax, tinnitus (ringing of the ears) occurred:

    • with placebo: in 1% of patients
    • at 50mg/day: less than 1% of patients
    • at 100mg/day: in 1% of patients
    • at 200mg/day: in 2% of patients

    Good luck,
John Claude Krusz and Teri Robert
