Can Nerve Decompression surgery cure or at least eliminate the majority of daily pain for Occipital Neuralgia? Sandra.
I’m not aware of decompression of the occipital nerve per se as a treatment for occipital neuralgia. Most of the time, what gets published or written about is that the occipital nervous system is stimulated by an Occipital Nerve Stimulator. Of course, my own experience is quite biased in that I see the occipital nerve stimulator failures in the area. Obviously, if an occipital nerve stimulator works, it will reduce the headache pattern. You may want to do more reading online or look up someone in your area who has experience with this technique.
