I truly understand what Bill is talking about!  I am 38 years old and have fought headaches since I was 11 or 12; with a few a year that had me in so much pain, I was afraid to go to sleep for the fear I would not wake up!  I have tried all the migraine medications out there, and even the herbal/alternative medications to no avail.  CAT scans and MRI's to rule out tumors..all showed nothing.  Just this past weekend my 14 year old daughter watched me sit on the couch with tears rolling down my cheeks because my head hurt so bad, my words didnt come out right or I would say something that didnt make sense..(think stroke-symptoms..i sure did!)..and she finally asked me if she could take me to the ER for a shot.  I walked in and told the ER doc my symptoms and what all I have tried over the years, and  all the tests I have done; he explained to me that these headaches were "complex migraines" and they hit the neurological system of your body which no medicine is going to 'touch'.  He asked me if I have had nubain and/or vistaril before; which I have had both..he had the nurse give the shot to me IM and in 10 minutes we were heading home and in 30 minutes I felt totally relaxed, climbed into bed and didnt move for almost 14 hours!!!  When I did wake up, I didnt have a headache, but I did feel a little hung-over.......my question is, what can I take when this type of headache hits me, instead of running to the Dr.'s office or to the ER?
