Hi I have been on Topamax 100MG for a long time, what is the highest dose you can be on? I'm starting to get more migraine on this dose. So can I go higher? Thank You Cheryel.
The maximum dosage of any medication is at least somewhat based on the individual patient and their response to the medication. The dosage recommended in the Topamax prescribing information is 100mg twice a day. However, some patients do well on less, and some do quite well with a higher dosage. Usually, patients who are prescribed more than 200mg/day are patients who are helped by 100mg/day, but not adequately. If an increase in dosage doesn't provide additional relief, then the options are to drop back to 200mg/day and add another medication or to taper off the Topamax and try something else.
