Supplements other than B2, magnesium, and CoQ10 for Migraine prevention?
I have suffered from migraines for 20 years. I recently had a full hysterectomy to try to eliminate my menstrual migraines. but I continue to suffer the rest of the month. I see a headache specialist who has helped me a lot. and I thank God for him. I have lost so much of my life because of these horrible headaches. my question is : are there other vitamins other than vit b2, magnesium, and co q 10 used to help with migraine prevention? I am taking those along with 150 mg topamax. thank you for reading, Nancie.
This isn't what you asked, but it's a piece of information we're going to give you anyway. If a doctor recommended yu have a hysterectomy to eliminate menstrual Migraines, you need to find a new doctor. Yes, in some cases, a hysterectomy can help. BUT, it can also make things worse or make no difference at all, and there is absolutely no way to predict which way it will go for a patient.
B2, magnesiu, and Coenzyme Q10 are some of the best supplements you can use for Migraine prevention. On the CoQ10, be sure to use softgels because it's less effective if it's powdered to make tablets or capsules. The most frequently recommended dosage for Migraine prevention is 300 mg per day. One other supplement to talk with your doctor about is Petadolex, which is butterbur.
Is the Topamax helping? If so, stick with it. If not, it's time for you and your doctor to taper you off it and find something else. There are many options to choose from.
