Hi.

I too have suffered from weather-induced migraines for about the past 10 years and have chronic daily headaches in addition.  I lived in the Louisville, KY area for the first 5 years and everyone there said that it was probably the Ohio Valley and the weather fronts that come across that area.  A year and a half ago I moved to southern NJ and was very, very hopeful that the change in location in the US would have a positive effect on my migraines.  It really hasn't made any difference at all.  I still get terrible migraines with each storm front, can predict rain coming, etc.

I've vacationed in Florida and NC and have not had any relief from these migraines.  I've not been to the areas you mentioned in the past 7 years or so, can't comment on those areas but thought this might be helpful.

Good luck, I would definitely agree that trying an extended trip might be helpful.  I didn't move to NJ due to my headaches but there has been no change at all.

Hope you can find a location that works for you, let us know if you do, we might all want to try to head that way.  LOL

Courtney,

As it has been explained it is a more or less situation of "to each his own". I was born in Tucson and do know that the times I was there, that as long as I did not get over heated, I was healthier.

Now, I did read recently, and I do not remember if it was on a site or just the daily Yahoo news that I get, but it listed the 10 worst places to live with Asthma. It listed St Louis as the worst or number 1. Arkansas was listed but can't remember what city or order. There were 3 or 4 places in Tennessee, one in New Jersey,  McAllen, Texas and that is all I can remember. Anyway, some of the symptoms related to their findings also match up with symptoms that may trigger a migraine.

I got back from Texas a couple weeks ago and I could not take the heat. My daughter's think at 60 it is cold. I live in Illinois so am use to much colder weather. We do get hot and humid too in the summer months. I feel that I am just real sensitive to weather and like you trying to come up with an area to live in that I can be more comfortable with less head pain and health related issues.

I am 59 now and the head troubles have been with me since the age, that I can reemember, of about 7. I will say I am doing much better and that is appreciated better for the last 10 or so years. That is thanks to modern meds and the internet.

Take care....MarleneCool

my first 2 years in tucson i was also head ache free.  now (4years and counting) i have head aches so bad i just have to pretend i am hallicunating to keep moving and not dwell. I get the migraine within 10 minutes of exposure to direct sunlight, and at one time was vomiting every day. the food here in tucson also seems to exaserbate the problems, who knows what pesticide mexico puts in there food we let them truck through here. tucson does not get its food from california. I would think the desert is the absolute worse place in the entire world for a migraine sufferer.  I never even had one till i moved here. The healthcare system is a joke here to make appointments you have to say to the receptionist i need to speak to your supervisor or they just blow you off. now they wont even cover allergy testing or consultation.  Tucson is the absoulte worst place for migraines. i would trade an appendage to move somewhere else.
