Hello
I am new to this so not really sure what to say. So I will just say that i have been living with migraines since I was 6 years old. I am from Australia and in my adult life before I came to the USA I would get about 1 or 2 migraines every few months, then when I moved to MICHIGAN they INCREASED to 10- 12 a month! Boy that was a shocker. I am now 48 years old and have lived here for 11 years. So I eventually went to an allergist and I guess Im allergic to everything green..that could be why I get more migraines....i am surrounded by TREES!!! Anyway I have tried many many medications...and I found that DOXIPIN which I was taking for extreme itching helped tremendously with migraines, they cut down from 12 to 6 or 7 a month...I went to Australia for 3 weeks last year and did not GET ONE MIGRAINE!! so that was interesting for me....I only got one on the way back to the USA..maybe I am allergic to America :-) Anyway now I am trying LEXAPRO as a friend of mine has had great success. It has helped greatly with stress. I dont suffer from anxiety or stress any more even though I am in a stressful job and work 60 hours a week.
It hasnt yet cut down on my migraines so I am still looking for answers..and am seeing my neuo in August...I have had some good feedback here on allergies so will talk to him about them.
well I guess that is it for now.

Shazz,
Just be careful with the Lexapro. I was on it several months. It helped my migraines the first month, and part of the second month, and third. I then started getting migraines again. I continued the medicaiton with no change. I was upset that this happened to me......... again! My daughter has had anxiety issues, as well as me. She tried it and loved it! She was on it for a year. But, she kept having these faiting spells, like in the shower, and out of nowhere, and I was so worried about her. So, we realized it could be the Lexapro. It was! She stopped taking it, and has had no more blackouts. That doesn't mean it won't work for you. I hope it does. I take an antidepressant called Nortriptyline. It helps some. I'm glad they have cut down for you. Mine have cut down also, but I'm still getting them sometimes daily. Good luck to you!
Denise
Hi thanks for the comments..I am only on 10ml a night and so far it hasnt helped me but it is early days...i found that strawberries is a huggggggge trigger for me!!! so i havent been able to tell if the lexapro is helping...but at least it helps with stress..and i usually keep track of side effects and stuff...so thanks again.....so how long have you been on your med?
Oh gosh. I've been on the Midrin for 5 months now. I've been on Nortriptyline about 4 months, and Lexapro before that. Amitriptyline before that. Let's see, I take Darvocet sometimes for pain. I take Xanax which does help my migraines some. But, I started on it for anxiety attacks. I try not to take the same thing over and over. Like I've cut way down on ibuprofen. Alevie Gel is pretty good. I have also neck and back and other pains, so I have a lot going on. I'm getting ready to have the Laser Spinal surgery on my cervical bulging discs in 2 days. I'm excited, but nervouse. Hope it helps the pain. I've had the neck and arm, pain, and shoulder for over 10 years now. I'm 41 by the way. I've been on every triptan, and couldn't take them. Had terrible side effects. I also got menstrual migraines when I had periods. I had a total hysterectomy, so I don't have them anymore either. That's a whole other story. Well, strawberries could be a trigger. Also, chocolater. Darn it. But, as I said, I can't pin point mine to foods. So, I wish you luck. Take care.
My goodness you have been thru the wringer! Well I was on midrin, but ended up taking 40 a month so stopped them as they didnt work.....good luck on your operation!! I also get menstral migraines, weather migraines and food trigger migraines and and and!! i get migraines if i laugh too hard, cry too hard...and i have neck and shoulder pain....Im 48!!! cant wait for menopause!
