A stunning book of migraine art and written insights, Migraine Expressions is also a powerful tool for helping others understand what we migraineurs experience in our lives.
So as a part of current and ongoing migraine advocacy efforts, we launched the Express Migraine to Congress effort, and you can help. If you can afford to buy a book for your U.S. senator or representative, it's easy, and we'll send the book on your behalf. If money is tight for you right now, as it is for many of us, you can still help by contacting your Congress members!
For each book purchased for Congress, we'll donate $1 to the Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy (AHDA). The AHDA is planning another Headache on the Hill event in February 2010, so getting these books to Congress in the meantime can be a good lead-in to that effort. Also, Cindy McCain has pledged to advocate for Congressional hearings on migraine disease and more research funding!
I think the momentum is building on the foundation that Teri Robert and others have built for bringing awareness and understanding of migraine to the forefront. Sending a book to Congress or sending your migraine message using these lists and links can help turn this momentum into a storm of attention for migraine. In addition to the lists and links to senators and representatives, I also have a letter posted there and you are welcome to copy and paste parts of it to add to your personal message if you wish.
If you find my explanation of the program confusing at all, MaxJerz at Rhymes with Migraine did a better job of explaining it than I did, as did Megan Oltman at Free My Brain.
Please do whatever you can to help promote understanding of migraine and the urgent need for more attention and research! Thank you so much.
