You would have to try out Amitriptyline to see if it helps you. It usually takes about 6 weeks or so to give a medication a fair chance at working.
There are over 100 medications currently being used as preventive migraine treatment.
If you are not currently on preventive medication, but you get migraines 3-4 times a month, then you would be a candidate for preventive treatment options.
