I have had the same migraine for 12 years and am on disability for them. I have tried brain surgery, DHE-45, all the triptans plus a million other medicines. The only thing my head reacts to is percocet and darvocet. Help please?It has ruined my queality of life. I have a son who is 12 and feel so bad that I can't be a 'normal' Mom to him. My husband divorced me because I was 'broke' - not a big loss in hind sight, but it all still hurts. Anything anyone has that may help, I am willing to try! Hi Bonnie,
One of the most important things we can do for ourselves is get an accurate diagnosis. This will help with treatment purposes, make it easier to learn about our Migraines, and be able to get care when we're away from home, etc., so the type of Migraine you have is important. You can read more about this in The Type of Migraine Does Matter.
Since you are in Alabama, you may be in luck, because we have a Migraine specialist listed in Burmingham, AL that doesn't seem to be too far from Montgomery on the map that is. Some people travel well over eight hours to see their Migraine specialist. Patients may be able to have just one or two visits with the Migraine specialist, then have their local neurologist implement the Migraine management plan.
