Hi Lorraine -

First of all, Hello and welcome to our family! Our goal is to provide everyone with the information and support that we all need to manage our Migraines and/or headaches.

As Pandorable told you, there are lots of medication choices available. A good place to start to understand them is Preventive, Abortive, and Rescue Medications - What's the Difference? Discussing Migraine medications can get confusing, partly because there are so many, partly because they're used for different purposes. Migraine medications fall into three categories -- preventive medications, abortive medications, and rescue medications.

For more support and to discuss with other Migraine sufferers what medications have worked for them, come vist our Migraine Forum

Please take a few minutes to review our policies and guidelines along with the other information in the START HERE folder. For information about Migraines, a good article to begin with is Learning About Migraines - Where to Start.

Let us know how it's going, okay?

- Megan

Hello!

There are lots of resources on this site. There are something like 100 medications that have been used to prevent migraines. With this many options, it may take a doctor awhile to find what works for you. Below is a link to some of the medications.
