How can you have a migraine without a headache?
I was diagnosed with menieres disease 5 months ago and thats what they have been treating me for.Yesterday when I went back to the DR.he says he doesnt think its menieres but migraines and vertigo. The last 4 or 5 hearing test he done all showed hearing loss, until yesterday he done a 15 min.hearing test instead of the usual 45 to 55min.then told me my hearing was normal.Referred me to a neurologist. So Im all confused. My symptoms have been vertigo 4 to 5 times a week 2 and 3 times a day, tinnitus, pressure in the ears, tunnel vision, brain fog,Plus Ive fell 2 or 3 times with this and have to use a walker for balance issues.Any one have any clues whats going on with me?I think he just didnt want to fool with me because I signed up for disability.
Dear doraan,
The symptoms you describe could be Migraine disease, but you do need to be diagnosed. Is there any history of Migraines, "sick headaches," or "sinus headaches" in your family? Migraine is a genetic neurological disease. There are no diagnostic tests to confirm it. It's diagnosed by reviewing your family medical history, your medical history, and your symptoms; conducting a neurological exam; then ruling out other possible causes for your symptoms.
A Migraine attack is not a headache; it's an episode or flare-up of Migraine disease. The headache, if there is one, is just one symptom of the Migraine attack. Some people do have Migraines without a headache. See Acephalgic or Silent Migraine - The Basics for more information.
Good luck,
Teri
