The night before the full onset of migraine, I sleep very deeply, having nightmares all night.
I can go to bed feeling normal, but wake some-time during the night feeling so heavy, & an effort to keep my eyes open. It is usually a nightmare that has awaken me. I know then the next 3 or 4 days a head will not be good. I take Valpro 200. All of my migraines start this way, so I know when they are coming. I first started getting them in 1998, but not as often. They have increased over the years. Medication has helped, but I still get one every 6 to 8 weeks. They can still last at least 3 days. It is the dizziness, nauseation & Tinnituus that knock me off my feet. Stemzine or similar do not seem to have any effect. I am 63 years of age. Is it common for people of my age to start getting them.? I was diagnosed a round 18 months ago as being a Basilar Migraine sufferer.
Do you know of others where by their migraines start as mine do.? What has happened during sleep to set this off.?
Regards, Elizabeth
Elizabeth,
Migraines usually begin before 50, but CAN start at any age.
Waking with a Migraine is often an indication of a sleep problem. If a nightmare disrupts your sleep, it's possible that that kind of disruption is a trigger for you. Many sleep issues can be a trigger -- too much, too little, disrupted, or poor quality sleep.
