This is a very, very broad question. Entire books are written about this. From your question, I can't tell what kind of "therapy" you're asking about.

 

Migraine is a genetic neurological disease caused by genetics and overactive neurons in the brain. Good Migraine disease management has five parts:

 

1) Diagnosis and finding the right doctor.

2) Trigger identification and management.

3) Preventive treatment if having three or more Migraines a month.

4) Abortive treatment to abort the Migraines we do get. These treatments work in the brain to stop the Migrainous process and associated symptoms.

5) Rescue treatment to use when abortives fail or if abortives can't be used.
