Q: side effects of topamax

Since starting taking topamax for migraines almost a year ago, I have had two really bad side effects that remain: (1) serious hair loss and (2) extremely frequent, practically constant common colds Cry. Is there anything else I can do to avoid them except go off topamax? (It helps with my migrains, so I would prefer not to quit!) Thanks very much for answer.

Hi patient patient,

Have you discussed these issues with your doctor? I'm not sure if there is anything that can help lessen these side effects you are experiecing other than adjusting the dose or tying a new medication.

There are over 100 medications that can be used to treat Migraine disease, so don't lose hope! This article has more information:Migraine Preventive Medications - Too Many Options To Give Up!

Good luck

Nancy
