Rosemary,
-:¦:-•:*'""*:•.-:¦:-•*Welcome to MyMigraineConnection!*•-:¦:-•:*'""*:•.-:¦:-
I've never tried Ergomar, but thought I'd offer you some additional information.
The FDA web site shows that Sandoz is still making Cafergot. It also shows two companies making generic ergotamine tartrate and caffeine tablets - West Ward and Mikart.
Other ergotamine Migraine abortive medications include Migranal Nasal Spray and D.H.E. 45, which is injected subcutaneously.
Hope this helps.
Welcome again,
Teri
HI Rosemary,
Cafergot works the best for me as well. I went to pick up my prescription this week and told it could not be filled. After searching and calling a compounding pharmacist told me she could make it for me. You just need to have your doctor write the prescription for "Cafergot - Compounded" and take it or have it sent to your nearest compounding pharmacy. There should be one in your area. Just go on the Academy of Compounding Pharmacists Websites and do a zipcode search.
Compounding pharmacies can duplicate discontinued medications as long as they are still approved by the FDA
I picked up my prescription today, I am so relieved. I did not know, until this week that this was an option.
