Hi Stacy,

Sometimes food can trigger a Migraine right away. For example, when I was cutting a raw onion a while back, after about a minute I had a Migraine - and that was a new trigger for me. I can eat cooked onions, but not raw. Other times we may not get a Migraine attack for up to 48 hours after we eat a food we may be triggered by. One way to identify and manage our food triggers is to keep Migraine diary. You can download one in this article; Managing Migraine Triggers.

I hope this is helpful,

Nancy

From my own experience, I usually know within a couple of hours if something I've eaten has triggering a migraine. The various guidelines I've read generally say within 24 hours.
