Q: Just diagnosed with Hemiplegic Migraine...I have only been in my new job for 3 weeks and use a state car. Will this hinder me from driving?
I was dx with SHM 3yrs ago, but a new neuro has changed it to FHM due to my father having the same symptomatic migraines. My father was in the Army for 22yrs with FHM, so you should be fine with your job. Maintain your medicene to prevent migraines. Although the ADA does not specifically cover migraineurs, letting you go from your job would be detremental to your employer.
I take depakote and have no issues with driving. My only side effects are hairloss, speech disruption, and memory loss.
