Hi barbara,

Typically, after a Migraine is gone, the symptoms should be too. Take a look at the article, Anatomy of a Migraine,  to become more familiar with the four (not everyone gets each phase) phases of a Migraine attack.

When we start new medication, it can take up to three months for our body to adjust to the dose and see a reduction in our Migraine severity and frequency. During this time any unwanted potential side effects may lessen.

And most importantly, if your doctor isn't able to help you, it may well be time to consult a Migraine and headache specialist. It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.

Good luck

Nancy
