Hi ciscokid,

Papilledema (swelling of the optic nerve) and chronic head pain may be seen in a condition called Idiopathic Intercranial Hypertension (IIH) formerly called Pseudotumor Cerebri along with a host of other symptoms. The only way to rule this condition out is with a lumbar puncture because you can have IIH without papilledema. Having said that, if one doctor saw an issue with your optic nerve, you may want to see an

ophthalmologist (a medical doctor who specializes in eyes) to give you a full eye exam.

You can  read more about IIH in this article: Pseudotumor Cerebri (IIH) - The Basics.

Good luck

Nancy
