Q: Could my headaches and migraines of been triggered by coming off the contraceptive pill after 10 yrs

I have been keeping a journal of my headaches and migraines for 12 months now and the only thing myself and my gp has been able to come up with is hormonal headaches and migraines i have recently just gone back on the contraceptive pill and my headaches are not qute as severe. I seem to get them now when iam on the sugar tablets of the pill or if i skip my period i still get them when my periods are due, when i went off the pill i had them everyday since going back on only during and after my periods. Before i intially went off the pill this didnt happen. have u heard of this occuring before and could it be some sort of hormonal imbalance?

aimes,

Hormonal fluctuations related to the menstrual cycle are a very common Migraine trigger, and these fluctuations can vary during a woman's lifetime. Your doctor can run tests to tell you if there's a hormonal imbalance, but there dosn't have to be an imbalance for the fluctuations to trigger Migraines.

For a bit more information, take a look at Role of hormones in causing (TRIGGERING) Migraines?.

Hope this helps,

Teri
