I have tried other Migraine Prevention medicines. Topamax, was a medication I tried to the maxumum dose for 4 years. What are the Types Of Migraines?

I have used Imitrex, Maxalt, Midrin, zomig Floranal, and am now taking Relpax.

Vicki,

Depakote has a pretty good track record for Migraine prevention. It's been around long enough that it's going generic. As you know, only trying it will tell if it's effective for you.

There are several different types of Migraine. You can find basic articles about all of them on our Types of Migraines and Headaches page.

Yes, there IS hope. You've tried four of the seven triptans leaving Amerge, Axert, and Frova. If Relpax isn't working for you, it's worth trying the others. A new addition to the triptan family is Treximet, a combination of Imitrex and naproxen sodium.

If you're not making progress, it's time to consider a Migraine specialist. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.

Good luck,

Teri

Hey Vicki, My answer is"let's hope for that...."

I am suffering for migraines for 18 years and, since october 2007 , this got to a point that my life became a "hell".

I've been experience 23 migraines a month, going to ER, all the time and , after change neurologist for 8 times, I'm getting a relief now.

After depakote(cause ovarian cancer) topamax(i lost 26 pounds) for 6 months, right now I'm taking "zonegram" is from the same family of the topamax,it's a seizure medication too but, you don't have the side effects of the others.

It seems that is working pretty well.Itried all the triptans already, now I'm taking zomig(when need) I barely need triptans.I almost left my job and my husband to go back to my country(Brazil) and try a treatment over there thank God I got this doctor. Sorry about my english, i learned watching tv.

I just learned that a doctor means everything, if he wants, you get better, good luck.....
