My daughter is so sick.  She just got out of hospital today after three day treatment with GHE and tonight is back again in the same shape, agonizing migraine pain and vomiting.  Help!

Mary,

Could you be talking about DHE? I don't know of any medication called GHE. DHE (dihydroergotamine) is sometimes used to break a Migraine. There are several medications that can be used in IV infusion for a Migraine that's not responding to medications. You can find more information, including a list of these medications, in IV Treatment of Refractory Migraines.

Hope this helps,

Teri

Hi Mary,

I'm sorry your daughter has been so ill. Do you mean DHE45, Dihyroergotamine? (I've never heard of GHE). This is in a group of medicines called ergot alkaloids and can be used to treat severe Migraines, like Status Migrainous.

We have information on Status Migrainous HERE and treatment options HERE.

I hope your daughter is feeling better. Have she seen a Migraine specialist yet? Look HERE for that information.

Nancy
