Hi allinmyhead,   Currenty triptans are contraindicated in aborting Hemiplegic Migraine (HM) due to the vasoconstrictive properties and concerns about stroke. There was a small study conducted safely using triptans but more work needs to be done before any conclusions are made about using them with HM. Verapamil, lamictal, topamax and diamox are all used for Migraine prevention including Hemiplegic Migraine.   I hope this helps. Nancy
