How can I find Migraine specialists in my area?
My GP and even a neurologist I went to were no help - they suggested a couple of the triptans but none of them worked, and they don't seem very interested in helping me try new preventives (I get about 4-5 Migraines a month). Could a Migraine specialist help? How can I find a good one?
Reggie,
Good question, one that lots of people have. First, I strongly recommend that you choose a specific doctor as opposed to a headache and Migraine clinic.
We maintain a listing of patient recommended Migraine specialist, indexed by state. All of these recommendations are based on feedback from patients who have seen these doctors, so they're all based on first-hand experience with the doctors. We don't have listings for every state, so if there's nobody listed for your state, check in neighboring states.
For these listings go to Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.
Good luck!
Teri

I usually have migraines at least 3 times a month. It is mostly triggered with my cycle but will come on if I get to hot or move very quickly. I instantly become light headed with nausea and extreme vomiting for at least 2 or 3 days with each migraine. I am completely frustrated with them. I have to take off work and usually sleep with the lights off. I am sometimes so weak and it affects my normal daily activites. Ive tried Imitrex but it had me so loopy and sleepy so now Im scared to try anything else. Please help me.
