Q: Tunnel vision, together with problems to understand what people told me and to speak. Reasons?

Once I had tunnel vision, together with problems to understand what people were saying to me and to speak. That happened around 3 years ago while I was under stress with a lot of pressure to finish a project on time, and working after hours. I never knew what happened to me then, maybe you can explain me some reasons for that kind of symptoms. Today I woke up ok, but during the morning I had lack of peripherical vision affecting my right eye, then a subtle headache started in my left side, later I recovered peripheral vision but my headache was worst. Any relation between these two events? this time I wasnt' stressed. Thanks in advance for your response

Hi Sagir,

One of the most important things we can do for ourselves is get an accurate diagnosis. A call to your doctor for an exam is always a good idea, and to rule out other conditions.

Some symptoms one may experience during a Migraine with aura include flashing lights, wavy lines and tunnel vision. Others include difficulty finding words, reduced sensation or even loss of hearing. For more information on the four phases of a Migraine attack, click HERE.

This may be a good time to talk about stress and Migraines. Here's the thing. Stress does not cause a Migraine, it makes our bodies are more susceptible to our triggers.

We have a wonderful podcast on this topic you can find HERE.

Managing our triggers plays an important role in Migraine disease. Some triggers we can try to avoid like chocolate, red wine and MSG. Hormonal and barometric pressure changes can't be avoided. Keeping a Migraine diary is a great way to track triggers to see what is and isn't working to reduce our Migraines. For a free Migraine diary click HERE. Our Migraine Trigger page is full of very helpful information: More on Migraine Triggers and Prevention.

Good luck

Nancy
