I have a friend who is experiencing strange symptoms associated with a headache, which has been lasting over three weeks now. The headache is at the base of her neck and is a dull pain. Over the last week, she has experienced three stroke-like episodes. During these episodes she loses all motor skills, and has no control of her actions (such as repeatedly hitting her head on a wall while seated). Nausea, vomiting, unable to speak, and inability to walk are associated with the episodes. She also has difficulty with balance, after being able to stand, and leans to the left. They usually last for 15-20 minutes and the cause is unknown. After the symptoms clear up, she is back to normal. The doctors have ruled out a stroke or seizure, and all blood work and other tests have come back normal. No diagnosis has yet been determined. Up until now she had no history of headaches or anything like this. Does anyone know what this problem could be?
