Frova and Cholesterol

Why is cholesterol a risk factor when taking Frova?  I have been taking Frova 15-20 times a month for about 3 years now, and a recent ultrasound showed 50-59% block in left carotid artery.  Back in '05 my carotid artery ultrasound was perfect.  Since taking Frova for 3 years, now there's a problem so I'm wondering if too much Frova actually caused the carotid block.  I'm only 54!!!  No one seems to have an answer!!
