Hi Michelle. I think it is always most important to be completely honest with your doctors. If they aren't going to take you seriously then they might not be the doctor for you. I have had similar experiences with going crazy on a different medication (although not the point where I lost basic abilities or went to the ER). My doctor never took my concerns with the medication seriously - until my mother came to an appointment with me. (I'm 21)...   She has pointed out that you need to be extremely assertive with some doctors. They think they know what's best but they aren't living in your body and feeling what you are.   I'm actually on elavil right now but I'm only on 100 mg. I haven't had any serious side effects - other than gaining a couple pounds and having an insane sweet tooth.   Are you seeing a headache specialist? I get the sense that you are not, if doctors aren't taking your headaches seriously. I think there is a lot of evidence out there linking depression disorders to migraines. elavil can't be the only medication out there designed to treat both. Your Mom should be really helpful in researching medications. I completely understand if you feel scared to try something else that might harm you.   I'm sorry that I don't have any answers for you. I just come to the site everyday in search of people who understand. I know what its like to be wary of doctors, and also to be in so much pain that it scary. I hope that you are getting well and I really urge you to seek a headache specialist or at least a nuerologist. Good Luck Michelle
