I have the exact same thing and several things work for me.  I see a chiropractor and physical therapist to work out the area.    The only permanent relief I have EVER had is from Botox.  My neurologist found that the knots in my upper shoulders and back of my head are triggering a lot of my migraines so he injected Botox into the knotted muscles.  As soon as the Botox took effect, I could tell an immediate difference.   Only problem?  I have to pay out of pocket because my insurance won't cover Botox for migraines.
