No. Triptans (abortive medications) are specifically designed to constrict the blood vessels and relieve the swelling. If you cannot use triptans (like myself) then you will need to manage the migraines from a different approach, such as beta blockers, or treatment of the migraine symptoms (pain medications.) I refuse to take triptans because I can actually feel the squeezing sensation in my head and I cannot stand it.
In your situation, you are best with a treatment/prevention other than triptans. For better information on the treatment that works best for you, be sure you know what your Migraine TYPE is. There's more than one type and these meds are intended for every type of Migraine.
