Hi Jim,

It's not a matter of right or wrong, rather that we have the data and research is being done. The Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy has a fact sheet stating 36 million Amercians have Migraine. It is the 12th most disabling disorder in the US. If you go to the site, you will see more facts and be able to sign up for alerts and things.

Good luck

Jim,

I don't know where various people get their statistics. I can tell you that the method I think is most accurate is this:

The World Health Organizations (WHO) puts the prevalence of Migraine in the US at 18% of women and about 6% of men. If you apply that to the current U.S. census as found at www.census.gov, it comes out to more than 36 million.

Hope this helps!

Hi Terri,

Seeing how I am responding to a 2009 post...would the percentages be the same in 2010..18% women and 6% men...so all I need to do is look up the current population?

Hi,

Correct. The percentages have not changed. If figuring for the US, you can get population figures at www.census.gov.
