Topamax dosage isn't working anymore

msf

I have suffered from migraines for about 8 years.  After finally finding Topamax I was happy with a medicine that seemed to control them.  I am currently on 100 mg/day total.  All of a sudden I seem to be getting about 2 migraines a week.  Is it possible that if my Dr. increases my dosage it will work better?

I have really tried everything else out there and nothing else worked.  This was the last option and it worked.  I don't want to be back at square one with headaches all the time.

Thanks.

Hi msf!

It is a posibility for your doctor to increase your dosage. It is also a possibility that he/she can add something different into your preventive plan.

There are over 100 preventive options out there, so don't give up!

I recently went through the same thing on Topamax so I know where you are coming from! In my case I had a new diagnosis, but that may not be the same for you. Talk to your doctor, bring up your concerns, he/she should be able to work with you.

Good luck!
