I am a resident of the Lower Fraser Valley( Chilliwack) in British Columbia. Are there certain specialists who specifically treat migraines?

I have been suffering migraines for 3 years now, but have moved into daily migrainces, of varying intensities, for 2 years now. I would like to have better treatment then what I am already receiving.

I am only on Maxalt 2 to 3 time per month as more often is too hard on my liver. That is taken when I simply cannot tolerat the pain any further. The Maxalt my lesson the migraine but kicks back with vengance!

I also take 150mg of Elavil at bedtime with the hopes of a break. I am able to get another hour or 2 extra sleep, but the migraine is always there.

Is there some center that I can go to for help in controlling this anguish?

Thank you for your time,

 Sincerely,

 Charlene

Hi Charlene!

To answer the first part of your question, yes we have doctors from British Columbia on our patient recommended list of Migraine Specialists.

Second, I want to say good job for wanting better for yourself and looking for a new doctor! Laughing

Third, if Maxalt is giving you harsh side affects, you may want to look into the other seven triptans, if you have not tried them yet already. They are: Frova, Imitrex, Treximet, Relpax, Amerge, Axert, and Zomig.

Not all triptans have the same side affects. I personally tried four before I found that Frova works best for me, and with the least side affects. So keep trying!

Good luck! I wish you the best with the new doctor!

This animation shows one of the key causes of pain during a migraine--changes to the blood flow within the brain.
