I have had migraines since onset of puberty age 8. Since what I have been told of onset of perimenopause my migraine has changed. I within the last 2 months or so have had migraine that when it went away changed to dizziness when the dizziness went away changed back to migraine with no relief between the two. My primary care physician couldn't find anything and was going to release me as being ok then decided to refer me to a neurologist who stated was still migraine. I now get migraines occasionally but still have dizziness. the only way I can discribe the dizziness is as if I had been drinking, a lot, and I'm not sure what to do I stagger around same as if I had been drinking and I will not get behind a wheel to drive has anyone heard of this? my mri was clear.

DeeNee,

-:¦:-•:*'""*:•.-:¦:-•*Welcome to MyMigraineConnection!*•-:¦:-•:*'""*:•.-:¦:-

Dizziness can be a symptoms of Migraine, and Migraines can change over time. Many of us, especially those of us for whom hormonal fluctuatons have played a role in our Migraine pattern, find them changing during perimenopause.

All of that said, it's important that other possible causes of this dizziness be ruled out if it occurs at times when you don't have a Migraine.

If your doctor isn't able to help you, it may well be time to consult a Migraine and headache specialist. It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special? If you need help finding a Migraine specialist, check our listing of Patient Recommended Migraine and Headache Specialists.

Please keep me posted on how things go?
