Are occipital nerve blocks effective even when one is not suffering from headache at the moment?? My doctor seems to want to do the shots even if I am not suffering from one on the day of the appointment. He is scheduling them every 2 weeks for a series of 4.
Do I go then for these yearly?? And what about their continued effectiveness, does the effect ever wear off, say I go for these shots over a few years???

Occipital Nerve blocks can be used to treat different types of pain conditions. I have had one block done, but got mininal relief with it. I did want to mention that there are several discussions about them on our discussion forum.
